Bangkok to host One Run half-marathon for first time

The One Run international half-marathon will take place at Suan Luang Rama IX Park in Prawet district of Bangkok on May 23 at 4.30am.

Organised by the non-profit organisation Race of Heroes, the National Jogging Association of Thailand and the Russian embassy, this is the first time that Bangkok will take part in what is hailed as the world’s largest half-marathon.

Around 1,000 residents and visitors to the Thai capital will line up at the start to join the global running movement that brings together thousands of people around the world on a single day.

In Bangkok, the race has four distances — 1km, 5km, 10km and 21.1km. On the same day, more than 200,000 people will take to the start line of the half-marathon across all regions of Russia, where the event will be held for the 10th time, and around 45,000 runners in other countries.

They include China, Brazil, Venezuela, Serbia, Belarus, Tanzania, Malaysia, Montenegro, Nepal, Morocco, Tunisia, Bangladesh, the Maldives, Chile, Armenia, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Tajikistan and others.

The fee ranges from 250 to 600 baht. Registrations should be made by April 30.
