Royal Thai Army to host Amazing Muay Thai Festival 2026 in Hua Hin

The Amazing Muay Thai Festival 2026 will be held from 4 to 7 February at Rajabhakti Park in Hua Hin, with the Royal Thai Army working alongside tourism and provincial authorities to showcase Muay Thai as a key part of Thailand’s cultural heritage.

Preparations for the event were discussed on 23 January during a meeting chaired by Major General Punnapong Chuwasawatphat, Director of the Civil Affairs Office under the Army Civil Affairs Department. The meeting took place at Rajabhakti Park and brought together representatives from national and local agencies involved in organising the festival.

Officials attending included Nat Krutsut, Deputy Governor for Products and Tourism Business at the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Itta Saowaros, Director of the TAT Prachuap Khiri Khan Office, Busaba Choksuchat, Deputy Mayor of Hua Hin City Municipality, and Montri Manichapong, Senior District Officer of Hua Hin, along with other relevant organisations.

Organised by the Royal Thai Army in cooperation with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Prachuap Khiri Khan province, the Amazing Muay Thai Festival 2026 aims to promote Muay Thai internationally while strengthening Thailand’s reputation as a destination for cultural tourism. Organisers say the festival is also intended to support the peak tourism season, encourage travel by both Thai and overseas visitors, and contribute to local employment and economic activity.

The event will be conducted in a respectful and restrained manner as a mark of remembrance in honour of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, recognising her long-standing contributions and royal grace.

Cultural showcase and programme highlights

The Amazing Muay Thai Festival 2026 will run daily from 4.00 pm to 10.00 pm at Rajabhakti Park. The programme will focus on both the sporting and cultural dimensions of Muay Thai, with activities designed to appeal to practitioners, enthusiasts, and general visitors.

Highlights include exhibitions explaining the 19 auspicious steps of Muay Thai, along with demonstrations and training sessions from four traditional Muay Thai schools: Muay Chaiya, Muay Korat, Muay Tha Sao, and Muay Lopburi. Visitors will also be able to see demonstrations of Thai handicrafts associated with Muay Thai culture, such as sacred tattooing and yantra drawing, as well as traditional folk games linked to the sport.

Interactive activities related to Muay Thai, traditional Thai massage and muscle relaxation sessions, and a full programme of stage performances are also planned. These will include Thai cultural performances, demonstrations of traditional martial arts and ancient weaponry, contemporary shows, and mini concerts by well-known artists.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 5.30 pm on 4 February. A teacher-honouring and wai khru Muay Thai ceremony will take place on 6 February, while fireworks displays are planned for the evenings of 4 and 6 February. Ahead of the festival, a press conference will be held on 2 February at the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s headquarters in Bangkok.
