Prachuap Khiri Khan has been named one of the world’s top winter destinations, following a global travel trends survey by Airbnb that highlights rising demand for destinations that are easy to reach and closely connected to nature.
The survey, released ahead of the 2025 winter travel season, points to growing interest in what Airbnb describes as “Gateway Travel”. The trend reflects a shift among travellers towards places that offer straightforward access, manageable distances and a calmer pace, while still providing outdoor experiences and opportunities to rest and recharge.
Among the regions and cities identified as emerging winter hotspots are the Australian Capital Territory in Australia, Santiago Metropolitan Region in Chile, Goslar in Germany, San José in Costa Rica, the State of Goiás in Brazil, Córdoba in Colombia, and Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Prachuap Khiri Khan’s inclusion on the list reflects its balance between convenience and natural appeal. Located along Thailand’s upper southern coast, the province is well connected by road and rail, making it accessible for both domestic and international visitors. At the same time, it offers a mix of beaches, national parks and coastal communities that appeal to travellers looking for outdoor activities without the intensity of larger resort centres.
Airbnb said the province offers a quieter alternative where visitors can explore national parks, snorkel around coral reefs and spend time along the coast.
The province is home to several well-known natural areas, including Kui Buri, Kaeng Krachan and Sam Roi Yot national parks, which are popular for wildlife viewing, walking trails and coastal scenery.
The recognition also underlines Thailand’s continuing appeal as a winter escape for travellers from cooler climates. Rather than focusing solely on major cities or heavily developed resort destinations, the survey suggests growing interest in provinces that offer everyday experiences, local food, open spaces and a slower rhythm of travel.
For Prachuap Khiri Khan, the listing adds to its profile at the turn of the year. Tourism operators and local authorities have previously highlighted the province’s suitability for short breaks and longer stays, supported by its transport links and range of accommodation options.
The Airbnb survey positions Prachuap Khiri Khan alongside destinations across multiple continents, reinforcing its place on the radar of international travellers planning winter trips in 2025.
