Another nationwide Thailand alcohol ban will be enforced this weekend as the country holds parliamentary elections.
The Election Commission of Thailand has confirmed that the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages will be prohibited across all provinces to ensure order during the voting process.
Residents and visitors should note that the ban covers a 24-hour period.
Ban times and restrictions
The prohibition begins at 6:00 pm on Saturday, 7 February 2026, and remains in effect until 6:00 pm on Sunday, 8 February 2026.
During this time, the sale, free provision, or distribution of alcohol is strictly forbidden. The restriction applies to all venues, including convenience stores, supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, and bars.
Parties or gatherings involving alcohol in public spaces are also prohibited during these hours.
Penalties for non-compliance
Authorities have reminded business owners and the public that the law will be strictly enforced.
Violations of the ban carry significant penalties, including a prison sentence of up to six months, a fine of up to 10,000 baht, or both.
